American Idol winner Scotty McCreery will perform a concert at Burlington High School on Monday, Nov. 14, to reward students there for collecting the most toys in a concert sponsored by Milwaukee radio station FM 106.
On Tuesday, school officials were still working to iron out the details of the concert, which will be held during the school day.
BHS was one of five high schools chosen to compete in the contest — the others were Greendale, Kewaskum, South Milwaukee and Waukesha West. The schools combined to collect 9,724 toys for the annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign.
Burlington students, staff and community members donated more than 2,707 toys to the effort, according to teacher Matt Behringer, who assisted with the drive.
