Number of the Week

2 – The number of state girls’ volleyball titles brought back to the city of Burlington last week from the WIAA state tournament. BHS beat Fond du Lac for the D1 title, CCHS Owen-Withee for the D4 state title. It was the first time in WIAA history that two schools from the same city won two titles in the same year.

Game of the Week

Two area football teams are still in the mix – and a win Saturday for either will send them to the WIAA state championship games in Madison next week.

Waterford plays Green Bay Southwest in a Division 2 state semifinal Saturday at 5 p.m. in Kimberly, while Catholic Central travels to Middleton to play Seneca Saturday at 4 p.m. in Division 7.

It is Waterford’s first trip ever to a Level Four playoff game, while if CCHS wins, it will be the school’s fourth straight appearance in the Division 7 title game.
