Bertha V. Schultz, 91, Burlington, died Nov. 14, 2013, at Kindred Health Care, Burlington.

She was born March 10, 1922, in Burlington, to the late Lawrence and Anna (Hiller) Siehoff. She was a lifetime resident of the Burlington area and was educated at St. Mary’s Grade and High schools.

She married Virgil Schultz, Sept. 5, 1942, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Following marriage they resided on the Schultz homestead until 1994 when they moved to the City of Burlington. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2004.

She was employed upon graduation as a secretary for Murphy Products Co., Burlington. She retired from there while raising their family and helping her husband on the farm. After the children were grown she was a secretary at the law firm of Lloyd, Phenicie, Lynch & Kelly, Paddock Lake, for several years.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild and Catholic Order of Foresters. She was a member of the Wheatland Homemakers and a sewing leader for the Brighton 4-H Club. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, crocheting, baking, and family gatherings.

Survivors include daughters, Sharon (Dan) Meyerhofer, Kay (Joe) Weis, both Burlington, Jeanne (Peter) Vanderwerff, Union Grove; son, Kenneth (Eileen McCarthy) Schultz, Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Lehsten; sisters-in-law, Annette Siehoff and Betty Siehoff, all Burlington; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her sister, June Nelson; brothers, Robert Siehoff, Roman Siehoff, Donald Siehoff; brothers-in-law, Jim Lehsten, Wesley Nelson, Walter (Elva) Schultz, Roy (Bernadine) Schultz; and sister-in-law, Mabel (Peter) Smith.

Visitation is Monday, Nov. 18, from 3-6:15 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 7 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial is private at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
