Scouting for Food arrives at front doors Saturday

On Saturday, March 15, more that 25,000 youth – Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venture Crews will distribute collection bags for non-perishable food items and other grocery store non food items among the homes of residents throughout the Kenosha and Racine counties. Food bags will be hung on the front doors handles of homes. Roundy’s will provide the bags and provide barrels in the Pick ‘n Save stores to collect food in areas with no Scout unit.

On Saturday, March 22, Scouts will collect the food bags from the front porches of residents’ homes. The collection will begin at 9 a.m. and will end at noon.

In addition, there will be Scouts accepting donations of non-perishable food items outside several major grocery stores throughout our area. The collected food items will then be delivered to food pantries that serve the needy in Racine and Kenosha counties only.

The goal is to collect well over 250,000 items.
