Man dies in Monday morning crash

A 35-year-old Kenosha man died and traffic was impacted for several hours Monday following a crash involving a car and a semitrailer truck on Highway 20 at Highway C in the Town of Yorkville, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Neil H. Volling was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release issued by the State Patrol Tuesday morning.

According to the press release, the truck, driven by Mark Szczerba, 57, of Kansasville, was crossing Highway 20 eastbound on Highway C when the car driven by Volling struck the rear wheels of its trailer about 8:35 a.m.

Szczerba was not injured. No citations were immediately issued, but the investigation continues, according to the State Patrol.

Officials closed traffic in the westbound lanes of Highway 20 while the crash was cleared.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Department, Union Grove-Yorkville Fire and Rescue and Flight for Life helicopter responded to the scene.
