CAROL V. MODRAK


Carol V. Modrak, 74, Burlington, formerly Tichigan Lake area, died Nov. 26, 2011, with family by her side at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Chicago, to the late Henry and Irene (Keller) Garber. She spent her early life in Chicago, moving to Burlington at 13. She graduated from Burlington High School.

On Oct. 29, 1955, she married Gordon A. Modrak at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Waterford. They were members of St. Thomas all their married life. They settled in the Tichigan Lake area. She was a secretary and MVP of the Gordon A. Modrak Builders, Inc. Her greatest joy was her family. She also enjoyed baking, gardening and the Christmas season.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years; children, Debbie Jacobs, Burlington, Mary Ann (partner in life, Betsy) Modrak of Winter, and Jim (Charlene) Modrak, Lake Geneva; grandchildren, J.J. (Aubrey) Jacobs, Erika (Jason) Kaatz, Justin, Monica and James Modrak; great-grandchildren, Landen and Easton Jacobs; sisters, Irene (Phil) Gerloff of Hayward, Shirley (Ken) Kaspar of Lady Lake, Fla., and Lois (Fred) Ruppert of Burlington; brother-in-law, Alan (Dolores) Modrak of Adams; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her son, David.

Visitation is Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 10-11:45 a.m., with services at noon at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 W. Main St., Waterford. The Rev. Gene Doda Jr. will officiate. Private family inurnment will be at St. Thomas Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church-Building Fund.
