BETTY J. CHAPMAN

Betty Jean Chapman; 86, Delavan, died April 15, 2014, at Ridgestone, Delavan. She was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo., to the late Theodore F. and Ollie M. (Case) Johnson.

She married Donald E. Chapman on Sept. 14, 1946, in Chicago. He died Nov. 11, 2007.

She was a bank teller for more than 20 years working at Silver Lake and Kenosha. She was a former member of the Community Baptist Church of Silver Lake, and First Baptist Church of Ozark, Mo. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the church choir. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family.

Survivors include her children, Susan (Thomas) Fay of Elkhorn, Wayne (Deanna) Chapman of Union Grove, Donna (Mark) Heizler of Winter, Patricia (Bruce) Merrill of Oglesby, Ill., Dawn Chapman of Spring Valley, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister; Shirley Johnson of Kenosha, and brother, Donald Johnson of Simpson, Ill.

She was further preceded in death by siblings, Mary Henry, Bertha Johnson, Raymond and Theodore Johnson.

Memorial service is 1 p.m., Monday April 28, at Yorkville United Methodist Church 17645 Old Yorkville Road, Union Grove, with the Rev. Sue Leih officiating. Visitation is at the church from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory Elkhorn, is serving the family.
