THEODORE J. HOLOM

Easter Lily

Theodore John “Ted” Holom, 65, formerly Lake County, Ind., died April 15, 2014, after a lengthy illness.

He was born to Theodore and Elizabeth Holom on Sept. 18, 1948. He grew up in Griffith, Ind., and graduated from Purdue University in 1983 with a degree in agronomy.

He married the love of his life, Marjorie Sheets, Aug. 7, 1977. They moved to Burlington where they lived for over 25 years. He was a salesman for Harris Moran Seed Co., and then Express Seed Co., until his retirement in 2009.

He was a fisherman, hunter, sportsman, expert marksman, nature-enthusiast, animal lover (particularly his dog Angel), reader, movie buff, master Boggle game player, and above all a faithful Christian. He was a strong prayer partner for many.

He never met a stranger, and made friends wherever he went. He loved spending time outside enjoying nature, and taught his children to love the outdoors. His children remember him for his wisdom, humor and many lessons, including to treat all with kindness, and approach situations ethically and with humility.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Survivors include his wife; children, Katherine Holom, Denver, Colo., and Ted (Stacey) Holom, Mauston; mother, of Papillion, Neb.; siblings, Diane (Douglas) Spaulding, Indianapolis, Deborah (Randall) James, Papillion, Neb., Maribeth (David) Santay, Toms River, N.J., John Holom, Littleton, Colo.; other loving relatives and many dear friends.
