DOROTHY L. HENSGEN

 

Dorothy L. Hensgen, 87, Burlington, died at home Monday, April 28, 2014. She was born in Kenosha on July 3, 1926, to the late James Harvey and Edna (Schaumberg) Stone. She spent her early life in Kenosha where she attended school.

On Sept. 10, 1949, she married Bernard Hensgen at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Kenosha. Following marriage they made their home in Racine County where they raised their family. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2010.

She worked as a nurse’s assistant at Burlington Hospital and also worked with her husband on the farm. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, loved playing bingo and babysitting children.

Survivors include her children, James (Mary Jo) Hensgen, Burlington, Bob (Pat Larson) Hensgen, Kansasville, Richard (Susan) Hensgen, Waterford, Donald Hensgen, Burlington, Joe Hensgen, Kenosha; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, John (Maryanne) Stone, Josephine Schaefer; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her parents; husband, and sister, Dora Mae Bennett.

The family would like to thank Pine Brook Pointe and Seasons Hospice for their care and compassion during this time.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Volkert officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on May 3, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Burial will follow Mass in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
