MARGARET M. GOODWIN

Margaret M. Goodwin, 86, Burlington, died April 29, 2014, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee.

She was born March 13, 1928, in Duluth, Minn., to the late William and Gladys (Mathias) Murray. She spent her early life in Oak Park, Ill., where she graduated from high school before attending DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.

On Feb. 7, 1948, in Chicago, she married Warren W. Goodwin. Following marriage they lived in various cities before moving to Burlington in 1972.

She worked as a security manager at Marshall Fields in Schaumburg, Ill. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at DePauw University. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, water aerobics, dining out, and performances at the Malt House Theatre and The Fireside. She played the piano and was a proud shareholder and fan of the Green Bay Packers.  She was a very social person, and was quick to make friends, and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; children, Reed M. (Jacqueline) Goodwin, Fort Collins, Colo., Leslie A. (Rick Tenant) Cramer, Waterford; grandchildren, Melissa K. (Travis) Dunn, Danielle (Michael Grams) Janda; great-grandchildren, Aiden D. Dunn and Logan M. Dunn; a brother, William Murray; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Patricia Murray.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Burlington High School’s Music Matters Program are suggested.

The family would like to thank Aurora Memorial Hospital-Burlington physicians and staff and St. Luke’s in Milwaukee for their compassionate care of Margaret.

A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, May 4, from noon until 3 p.m., at Veteran’s Terrace Stars & Stripes Room, 590 Milwaukee Ave., Burlington.
