Led by 20 points from senior Tim Peterson, the Burlington High School boys’ basketball team overcame a rough shooting night and beat Westosha Central 56-48.

BHS improved to 1-1 overall, and 1-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference.

“We’ve got some work to do, but we knew that going in,” said BHS coach Steve Berezowitz, who lost three starters and leading scorers from last year. “We lost a lot of minutes and experience on the floor. That learning curve is a little quicker than normal.”

Berezowitz estimated the Demons shot about 37 percent for the game, and it was evident in the first half with a number of missed shots – both layups and jumpers. However, BHS outscored Westosha by eight in the second half for the win.

Carson Biedrzycki added 11 points and nine rebounds for BHS.

In other action Friday night, the Waterford girls lost to Mukwonago 55-32, getting outscored 33-18 in the first half before settling in. The BHS girls lost to Franklin, 78-34.

The Waterford boys beat Badger 64-50, while Union Grove beat Delavan-Darien 57-48.
