BARBARA K. MANGOLD

Easter Lily      Barbara Kaye Mangold, 73, Burlington, died peacefully May 26, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family, after a 4-½ year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born Sept. 6, 1940, in Eagle River to the late Wilbert and Barbara Alt. She was the youngest of seven children and spent most of her childhood in Boulder Junction. She graduated from Lakeland High School, Minocqua.

She married James Allen Mangold Jr. on May 21, 1960, in Boulder Junction at St. Anne’s Catholic Church and relocated to Burlington.

She was a hardworking, vibrant, intelligent and caring, woman who enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and loved her dogs. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading, traveling, shopping and spending time in her beloved north woods. She had a beautiful singing voice and was involved with the Sweet Adeline’s for many years. She was also active in the family insurance business until her retirement.

Survivors include her husband; children, Roberta (David) Quist, Davenport, Iowa, Laurie (Robert) Weinhammer, Krista (Perry) Hintz, and James (Angela) Mangold III, all Burlington; grandchildren, Stephen, Tori, and Jonathan Quist, Nicholas and Aubrey Weinhammer, Cecilia, Jordan, and Olivia Hintz, Addison, Delaney, and Caden Mangold.

She was further preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 29, at St. Charles Church, Burlington. The burial service was held May 31, at Cemetery of the Pines, Boulder Junction.

Per Barb’s wishes, memorials can be made to St. Charles Catholic Church or St. Anne’s Catholic Church.

A very heartfelt thank you goes out to her family and friends for their love and continued support; the entire staff of Dr. Ben George and Dr. Douglas Evans (Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee), Dr. Melanie Smith (Aurora Burlington), Heartland Hospice (Kenosha and Milwaukee) and Home Helpers (Burlington) for their outstanding service and care.
