Man killed when car is split in two during crash with tree

A 30-year-old Town of Waterford man was killed late Friday morning when the vehicle he was driving left the road and struck a tree in the Town of Norway.

The impact of the crash severed the car in two, according to a press release issued by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, who was ejected from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 6200 block of South Loomis Road, the release said.

According to officials with the Sheriff’s Department, the car was traveling north when it crossed the centerline, left the road and struck the tree. Deputies were dispatched to the scene at 10:50 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation. The name of the victim has not been released.
