JOAN L. EBBERS

Easter Lily      Joan L. Ebbers, 88, Burlington, died July 22, 2014, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington. She was born April 12, 1926, to the late Albert and Anna (Yanny) Ebbers in Burlington. She was a lifelong resident of Burlington, graduating from St. Mary’s Grade and St. Mary’s High schools.

Following high school she worked as an administrative assistant at Burlington Mills, Murphy Products, Hi-Liter and Rewald Electric. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, volunteered at the hospital and volunteered serving lunch at the grade school.

She loved to travel both in the U.S. and Europe. She especially enjoyed traveling with her friend Betty Zwiebel to Laughlin, Nev. She enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her sisters, Helen Henning and Carol Wermeling; sisters-in-law, Joanne Ebbers and Joann Ebbers; 28 nieces and nephews; many great and great-great nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Joan #1.

She was further preceded in death by her siblings, Fred (Margaret) Ebbers, Dorothy (Jim) Slein, William Ebbers, Jim Ebbers; brothers-in-law, Larry Henning and Bill Wermeling; nephews, Mike Slein and Joe Ebbers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 28, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Volkert officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, July 27, from 3-6 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington.

Memorials for Joan may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
