Charles J. Gerds, 75, died at home in Waterford on July 25, 2014, after an 11-month battle against metastasizing colon cancer.
He was a 20-year Air Force veteran, serving as a weapons control systems technician, fixing airplanes in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Germany and England, as well as countless stateside bases. After his military service, he worked in the Brew House at Miller Brewing Company for 17 years.
He loved growing vegetables, sunrises and his daughters.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Penny; daughters, Gretchen von Moritz and Jordana (Eric) Wells; grandchildren, Roman Gunderson and Whitney Gunn.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann.
Following his wishes, he was cremated and buried at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, in a private service.
