It’s been more than four months since fire shut down the Schuette-Daniels Furniture Store in Burlington.

It may still be a few more weeks before its owners know its future.

Matt Daniels, the owner of the furniture store, said Tuesday that the family would begin meeting with insurance representatives and lawyers this week.

“Kind of taking it from there,” Daniels said. “We’re getting our insurance things in.”

The future of the store has seemingly been in doubt since the April 6 fire, which caused well over $1 million in damages including the buildings and inventory.

However, Daniels has said the family is waiting on insurance claims and reports on the buildings – the store occupied three different addresses on South Pine – before making any decisions.

“We’re not to any point yet,” he said Tuesday. Hopefully, he said, there would be an answer in the next few weeks.

“We will know one way or the other,” Daniels said.
