WAYNE L. VONACHEN

Easter Lily      Wayne L. Vonachen, 75, died Sept. 17, 2014, at his home in Burlington, surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 22, 1939, in McPherson, Kan., to the late Cecil Rex Vonachen Sr. and Myrtle (Crawford) Vonachen. He was employed by International Harvester/Case IH for 39 Years holding the position of product distribution supervisor in Kansas, Colorado, California, and Texas. Transferring to Wisconsin in 1985, he held the positions of product distribution supervisor and pricing manager. He began his career with International Harvester at the Pratt, Kan., company-owned store at the age of 19.

Upon retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with cars, and visiting with neighbors while hanging around garage. A daily trip to McDonald’s for a cup of coffee and train watching were simple things he loved to do. Taking roads less traveled on numerous trips out west to visit family and friends was a favorite thing to do.

Wayne and Connie Drummond were married July 25, 1965, at the First Baptist Church in Pratt.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years; sons, Mark Vonachen, Hutchinson, Kan., Keith Vonachen (Melanie); granddaughters, Mira and Solenne, Lisbon; brother, Cecil Rex Vonachen, Jr. (Ana), Hutchinson; sister, Arlene Vonachen, Anacortes, Wash., nieces, Kathleen Vonachen, San Matoe, Calif., Paula Witt (Marshall), Anacortes; nephews, Steve Vonachen, Hutchinson, John Vonachen, Denver, Colo.; best friend and brother-in-law, Larry Drummond (Katrina), Hutchinson.

He was further preceded in death by his nephew, Michael Chinn.

Per Wayne’s wishes, graveside services and burial was held Sept. 22, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. Larrison Mortuary served the family.
