LOIS M. SCHOTT

Easter Lily      Lois Reuschlein Schott, 88, Santa Barbara, Calif., died Sept. 14, 2014, at home with her loving family by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Burlington, to the late Louis Reuschlein and Norma Reuschlein. She grew up in Burlington with her sibling Phillip Sam Reuschlein, where she attended St Charles Elementary School and St. Mary’s High School. She attended the College of St. Theresa in Winona, Minn.

She met her husband James Anthony Schott in Chicago and they were married Jan. 3, 1948, in Burlington. She devoted her life to her husband and family of eight children. She was actively involved at St Charles Church and School. James and Lois moved to Santa Barbara in 1972. She was active with St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and with Delco Electronics social groups. She was a regular volunteer at the Goleta Valley Community Hospital. Her easygoing and caring personality made her a dear friend to many. In addition to the joy from her family, she was a talented watercolor painter, an avid golfer, swimmer, card player and beach enthusiast.

Survivors include her children, Toni (Robert) Kipp, Santa Barbara, Thomas (Olga) Schott, Selma, James A. (Kim) Schott, Jr., Nashville, Tenn., Michael (Michele) Schott, Laytonville, Daniel (Thip) Schott, Thailand, Patricia (Doug) Schubert, Grover Beach, William (Jayne) Schott, Columbus, Ohio, Mary (Robert) Archer, Santa Barbara; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by her husband, James Anthony Schott in 1992, and her brother, Phillip Sam Reuschlein in 2010.

The family would like to thank devoted and loving caregivers Priscilla Jimenez, Mary Lou Bancud and Sylvia Jimenez. Thank you also to the Friendship Center and all its wonderful caregivers. A prayer service was held on Sept. 17, at St. Raphael’s Church followed by the Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Friendship Adult Day Care Center, 89 Eucalyptus Lane, Santa Barbara, CA 93108.
