The Burlington Combined girls high school swimming team routed Whitewater 140-30 Oct. 14 in a Southern Lakes Conference meet at Whitewater.

Burlington Combined consists of Burlington, Waterford, Union Grove, Burlington Catholic Central and East Troy.

The Demons won six of 11 events and finished second in each event except one in which they did not finish first.

Olivia Wanasek, Devon Wanasek, Samantha Dziak and DeAnn Jones finished first in the 200-yard medley relay in 2 minutes, 1.55 seconds.

Devon Wanasek finished first in the 200 individual medley (2:28.62) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.27) and DeAnn Jones won the 50 freestyle (26.53).

Olivia Wanasek won the 500 freestyle (5:41.43) and Leah Zinnen, Natalie Pufahl, Olivia Wanasek and DeAnn Jones won the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.94).

The Demons compete Saturday in the Racine Invitational at Racine Park High School.

“It’s a nice mix,” Burlington coach Denita Jones said. “We get to compete against teams from the county. We don’t really get to see them until that meet. It’s really nice to swim against people in our local area.

“I think we won that invitational the last four years. We’re getting pumped to go in there and go have another strong showing this year.”
