‘Scrooge’ hits the stage at Malt House

The Haylofters will open a one-weekend-only run of “Scrooge The Musical” tonight at the Malt House Theater in Burlington.

The show, a musical version of Charles Dickens’ favorite “A Christmas Carol,” runs Thursday through Sunday, though all tickets for Sunday are currently sold out.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening shows begin at 7:30 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday matinees are 2 p.m.

A bonus show for the Haylofters this season, the familiar story of Ebenezer Scrooge, “bah, humbug!” and the learning of the true spirit of Christmas through the visit of three ghosts plays out with musical numbers such as “December the 25th,” “Happiness,” and “Thank You Very Much!”

Haylofters veteran Rob king plays Scrooge, while his clerk, Bob Cratchit, is played by Mike Cha. Mrs. Cratchit is played by Julie Patten, while the ghosts are Trish Riley (past), Tim West (present) and Jen Eisenbart (future).

The role of Tiny Tim – whose lesson of life is central to the story – is played by Noah Lahner, while Mike Austin is the ghost of Scrooge’s former partner, Jacob Marley.

“Scrooge The Musical” is directed by Don Fresen.
