GEORGE STRASSER

Easter Lily      George Strasser, 85, died peacefully on Dec. 11, 2014, at East Troy Manor with his loving family by his side.

He was born on June 2, 1929, to the late Joseph and Mary Strasser in Milwaukee. He lived in Milwaukee until the age of 6 when his family moved out to Dover Township.

He married Pearl Curnow, on April 25, 1953, at St. Thomas Church, Waterford, where they remained married until her death on Oct. 2, 1985.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Dorothy (Ogden) Fitch on June 17, 1989, at St. Peter’s Church, Waterford.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, camping, wine making, but most of all, loved both of his families. He was a man who wore many hats. He worked for AMC/Chrysler, was a carpenter and farmer. He served for many years as the town constable for Dover, spent 39 years with the Kansasville Fire Department finishing as Chief, was a lifetime member of the VFW and a huge supporter of the VetsRoll out of Beloit, which brought closure to him.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy; children, Debra (Mike) Jacobs, Mark (Natalie) Strasser, Lorrie (David) Rogall, Cynthia (Ronald) Hunt, Mark (Dena) Fitch, Jennifer (Al) Barnickel, Jacob (Jamie) Fitch; grandchildren, Kathleen (Mark) Johnson, Leanne (Tom) Iglinski, Maquel (Trevor) Burbach, Sara (Josh) Spencer, Tim (Jamie) Rogall, Nathan (Jessie Kirchoff) Hunt, Matthew (Carrie) Hunt, Nicholas (Jacquie) Hunt, Allysa (Derrick) Pruitt, Brietta Fitch, Caileigh Fitch, Isaac Fitch, Blake Barnickel, Landon Barnickel, Logan Fitch; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Werner) Wichmann; many nieces and nephews

He was further preceded in death by his sister, Julia Binning.

Visitation is Monday, Dec. 15, from 3-8 p.m., at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 W. Main St., Waterford. Services are Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m., at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 145 S. 6th St., Waterford. Burial will follow services in St. Mary’s Dover.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of the ninth floor at Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital, Drs. Choithani, McGartland, Randy Schmidt and staff, the staff at East Troy Manor and Allay Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the VetsRoll in Beloit.
