VERNA M. NORTH

Easter LilyVerna M. North, 94, Burlington, died Dec. 15, 2014, at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn.

She was born in Waukesha on Oct. 1, 1920, to the late Charles E. and Ida M. Patey. She spent her early life in the Town of Waukesha where she graduated from Waukesha High School. She further attended school and received a Registered Nursing degree.

On March 14, 1946, married George N. North. Following marriage they lived in Waterford Township before buying a farm in Dover Township. They sold the farm in 1978. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1979. After his death she returned to the Burlington area.

She worked as a pediatric nurse at Waukesha Hospital and Burlington Memorial Hospital. She was a member of English Settlement United Methodist Church, a member of The British Interest Group of Wisconsin and Illinois, and a founding member of the Burlington Genealogy Society. She enjoyed doing genealogy, braiding rugs, embroidery and baking. She belonged to a senior group that cleaned and repaired toys and made comforters for Love Inc.

Survivors include her children, Louise (Robert) Buchholz and Paul (Mary Jo) North; grandchildren, Kelly (Travis Graham) North, Cassidy (Bryce Jefko) North and Brian Buchholz; great-grandchildren, Jameson and Finley Graham; sisters-in-law, Janet Foat and Marion (Bruce) Jernell; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her brother, Edwin (Patricia) Patey; sisters, Margaret (Leo) Kerstein, Myrtle (Glen) Hubman; brothers-in-law, Harry (LaVonne) North, Charles (Lorraine) North and Milton Foat.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Brook Pointe and Dr. James Moran for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Burlington Rescue Squad or Love Inc.

Services are Friday, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 626 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with the Rev. Barry Watson officiating. Visitation is Dec. 19, from 5-7:15 p.m., at the funeral home Burial will be private.
