MARLIN H. GAUGER

Easter Lily      Marlin “Marley” H. Gauger, 85, lifelong resident of Wilmot, died peacefully on Dec. 19, 2014, at Brookdale Kenosha.

He was born June 17, 1929, in Wilmot, on the family’s dairy farm, to the late Carl and Sadie (Raasch) Gauger.

He attended Wilmot schools, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. On May 30, 1954, he married Eleanor Kerkhoff in Wilmot and they have lived on the farm ever since. He was a very proud man, he loved cooking pigs and farming and also enjoyed playing cards and building boats. He was a member of the American Legion Schultz-Hahn Post #293 and the VFW Brandes Post #8375, both of Silver Lake. While he spent most of his life as a dairy farmer, Marley worked for a short time with Lavelle Rubber as a machinist.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years; children, Daniel (Michele), Greenwood, Steven (Nancy), Burlington, Deborah (Herb) Holst, Trevor, David (Laurie), Wilmot, Douglas, Burlington; grandchildren, Margaret (Josh), Daniel (Kristen), Andrea (Gary), Darcy, Derek (Debbie), Katherine, Mathew, Nicole (Joe), Gabe (Michelle), Brian (Jackie), Kevin (Kendra), Rebecca (Frank), Robert, Garrett, and Andrew; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Thelma Lewis, Gerry Brown, Nyla Dickau, Marvin Gauger, and Margery Maier.

He was further preceded in death by siblings, Louie Gauger, Delores Keller, Marles Kempken, and Raymond Gauger.

Funeral services are Saturday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m., at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 11233 306th Ave., Wilmot, with the Rev. James Fischer officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Wilmot Cemetery, Randall Township. Pallbearers will be his nine grandsons. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m., Friday at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Route 83) Antioch, Ill.
