STANLEY L. BLUM

Easter Lily      Stanley L. Blum, 93, Lake Geneva, formerly Burlington, died Dec. 18, 2014, in Lake Geneva, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Beetown, on Nov. 24, 1921, to the late Albert and Helen (Pendleton) Blum.

On June 19, 1943, he married Genevieve McHugh. After 56 years of marriage she preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 1999. In September 2001 he married Olga Haines. Following marriage they made their home in Lake Geneva. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2013.

He was the owner of Stan’s Glass & Radiator Service until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Burlington United Methodist Church, was a 56-year member and Past Master of the Burlington Masonic Lodge of the Free & Accepted Masons, Lodge #28. He was active with the Eastern Star, Burlington Chapter #153 where he was Past Worthy Patron. He was a Shriner of the Tripoli Shrine, served as Past President of the local Shrine Club and was very active in the Tri-County Shrine Club. He was dedicated to the support of the Shriners Hospital serving children in need. In addition to his good works and community service, he enjoyed gardening, was an avid letter writer and liked to read and cook.

He was further preceded in death by his brothers, Albert ‘Glenn’, Russell, Rexford and Dale; sisters, Nellie and Alva; and son, Glenn Richard Blum.

Survivors include his brother, ‘Pete’ (Eileen) Blum, Beetown; sister, Ruth (Thomas) Hunt, Jackson, Mich.; Glenn’s daughters, Courtney (Richard) Van Boxtel, Onieda, and their children, Kayla, Brynn and Tyler; and Erika (Jeff) Olson, Appleton, and their daughter, Anika; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Blum, Traverse City, Mich.; stepdaughter, Yolanda (Jon) Cruz Chamberlain, Lake Geneva and their daughter Samantha (Doug) Dalsing; and his great-granddaughter, Lavinia; stepdaughter, Vicki (Cole) Jacobs, Lake Geneva and their children, Rex, Luke and Jed Jacobs; and stepson, Paul (Susan) Cruz of Woodstock, Md., and their children, John, Kristy, Katie and Lexie Cruz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Shriners Hospital for Children–Twin Cities located at 2025 E. River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55414.

The family would like to offer thanks to Stanley’s caregivers with special thanks to Angie, Dee and Claire at Geneva Lake Manor in Lake Geneva for their tireless support of Stanley and his family.

Funeral services are Saturday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m., at Burlington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ebenezer Insor presiding. Relatives and friends may visit on Dec. 27, from 10 a.m. until the Masonic Service at noon at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Burial will follow in Burlington Cemetery.
