Calling all farmers to Jan. 30 appreciation dinner

Shepherds Ministries is holding its first annual Farmers Appreciation Dinner on Friday, Jan. 30, on the Shepherds Ministries campus, 1805 15th Ave., Union Grove.

All Racine and Kenosha area farmers are invited to attend this free event.

“We want to communicate to farmers that their work matters,” said Dr. Bill Amstutz, President of Shepherds Ministries.

“They are valuable to their communities, to the country and, on a smaller scale, to Shepherds Ministries.”

Shepherds offers a nationally recognized residential, vocational and educational facility for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Amstutz noted that local farmers have donated produce and meat to Shepherds’ residents; opened their farms to Shepherds’ residents, clients and students for fun activities like apple picking and hayrides; and provided field experience to Shepherds College horticulture students.

“We want to take this chance to show our appreciation for them as hard-working families with good hearts and a tremendous work ethic,” said Amstutz.

The Jan. 30 dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Bolthouse Gym located in the Wood Center. The evening includes a great meal prepared by an experienced caterer, dessert made by Shepherds College culinary arts students, music, prizes and meaningful fellowship.

To attend, please RSVP to Amy DeBurgh, Director of Volunteers and Guest Services, by calling (262) 878-5620 ext. 2304 or emailing [email protected].
