LAWRENCE A. KEMPF

Easter Lily      Lawrence ‘Larry’ A. Kempf, 67, Racine, formerly Burlington/Lily Lake area, died unexpectedly at home on Jan. 2, 2015.

He was born in Glidden, on April 1, 1947, to the late Lawrence L. and Shirley (McClaire) Kempf. He received his education from Most Precious Blood Catholic School in Glidden and from Milwaukee Area Technical College.

On Feb. 9, 2011, in Kenosha, he married Marcia Andrea (Weintraub) Lee. They lived in the Burlington/Lily Lake area for many years, just moving to Racine a few weeks ago.

He was employed as an engineer at Sta-Rite for 30-plus years until his job was eliminated. Following, he went to work for Amorim Industrial Solutions. With a great passion for animals, Larry and Marcia were also tireless volunteers for ‘Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue, Inc.’ based out of Union Grove. In addition to his canine companions, Larry also had special interest in woodworking, photography, music, and just being at home.

Survivors include his wife; children, Christine Doss, Laurie Kempf, Erica ‘Rikki’ Kempf and Jenifer Kempf; stepdaughter, Mariah Truckenbrodt; many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Mark (Roberta) Kempf, Barney (Mary) Kempf and Tom Kempf; sisters, Shelley Kempf and Lisa (Ron Sponholz) Kempf; brothers-in-law, Adam (Elizabeth) Weintraub, Matthew Weintraub and Jonathan (Christine Grundeman) Weintraub; canine companions, KK, Dixie, Angy and Mr. B; other dear relatives and friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

He was further preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Sophia Kempf; and by Marcia’s parents, Lawrence and Evelyn (Hickey) Weintraub.

A memorial service celebrating Larry’s life is Saturday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m., at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. Private interment will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 1-3 p.m. In memory of Larry, memorials to Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue, Inc., 2616 200th Ave., Union Grove, WI 53182, has been suggested.

  1. My deepest sympathies to the family of Larry. I worked with him at Sta-Rite (Waterford) in the late 70’s. I was married to Don Grisius.
    I have many fond memories of Larry and the summer get togethers at his home in Cedar Park,Burlington.May he rest in peace and his family find comfort knowing he will be missed and remembered by many. May God bless each of you and give you comfort and peace.
