LUETTA GOETZ

Easter Lily      Luetta ‘Lu’ Goetz (Christman), 86, Union Grove, died peacefully in the presence of Almighty God on Jan. 13, 2015, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Franklin.

She was born in West Allis on April 11, 1928, to the late Joseph P. and Emma C. (Eppers) Christman. Her early life was spent in the Kansasville, Union Grove, and Burlington areas. She attended Kansasville and Pleasant Lawn Elementary schools and Catholic Central High School in Burlington.

On May 20, 1950, in St. Mary’s Church, Kansasville, she married Thomas J. Goetz. They were married for over 64-1/2 years and raised seven children together. After living in Milwaukee and Burlington a short time, they settled in Racine and later moved to the Union Grove area.

She worked as a clerk at the Wisconsin Telephone Co., was coordinator of the St. John Nepomuk Learning Center and worked as a nanny at various homes while parents vacationed. She belonged to the choir at St. Mary’s Church and community choirs such as Sweet Adelines. She participated in home and school organizations, Jaycettes, Ladies of Columbus, Women’s clubs at church, Circle Eight Square Dance Club, and The Groovy Rubies of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Brian T., Palmyra, Gerard J. (Lori), Racine, Karl D. (Kelly), Naperville, Ill., Paul R. (Xiao), Racine; daughters, Judi Seymour, Brown Deer, (Rick Stiever), Debrah Goetz, Mundelein, Ill., Katie Kassulke (Tom), Milwaukee; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Glen Christman.

She was further preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys MacKay, Ilene Simon, Marjorie Kreuscher; brothers, Lester and Vernon Christman.

Visitation is Friday, Jan. 16, from noon until time of Mass of Christian Burial at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Union Grove. The Rev. Robert Kacalo will officiate. Private burial will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the St. Robert Bellarmine Church or to Catholic Central High School, Burlington. Miller-Reesman, Kasuboski, Haas, and Dahl Funeral Home, Union Grove, is serving the family.
