A driver died Jan. 10 following a one-vehicle accident that occurred about 10:27 p.m. in the 20000 block of Spring Street in the Town of Yorkville.
Racine County Sheriff ceputies and members of Union Groove/Yorkville Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene, and found the unresponsive driver trapped in his vehicle. A short time later, he was pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation found the driver appeared to lose control while traveling westbound on County Highway C (Spring Street).
The vehicle then slid sideways across the road and into a ditch, causing it to flip onto its side. The vehicle continued to slide until it hit a utility pole, before coming to rest.
The driver was reportedly wearing a seatbelt; it was not immediately known whether or not alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing. The name of the driver had not been released as of press time, pending notification of relatives.
