WARREN E. McCOWN

Easter Lily      Warren E. ‘Skeet’ McCown, 72, Burlington, died Jan. 18, 2015, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington.

He was born in Burlington on Jan. 29, 1942, to the late Esker and Helen (Culver) McCown. He was a lifetime resident of the Honey Creek/Burlington area and graduated from Burlington High School after attending Rochester Ag School.

On May 4, 1968, he married Barbara Jean Poepping. They made their home in Burlington where they raised their family.

He worked as a plant manager for Alby Block Company until its closing and then worked as a truck driver for R.W. Miller in Lake Geneva.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was the past president of the Browns Lake Aquaducks. He enjoyed outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting, gardening, camping and snowmobiling, especially with his grandchildren. He always looked forward to fishing with his brother-in-law, Fred. His family was very important to him and loved any and all time spent with them.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Janette (Robert) Daley, Michele (Mark) Ellingsberg, Debra (Michael) Whitehouse; grandchildren, Kyler and Mikaela Williams, Brianna Ellingsberg, Timothy Bizek-Daley and Deanna and Dylan Whitehouse; great-grandson, Carter Mlachnik; sister, Betty (Fred) Hobl; sister-in-law, Marilyn McCown; brothers-in-law, Charles (Regina) Poepping; Thomas Poepping, Kenneth (Julie) Poepping and Douglas Dorn; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his in-laws, Norbert and Helen Poepping; brothers, Harlan and Wayne; sister-in-law, Judith Dorn.

The family would like to thank Dr. Zaremba, the staff with Aurora Visiting Nurse and Hospice for their care and dedication during this time.

Services are Friday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert presiding. Visitation for family and friends is Thursday, Jan. 22, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
