The Burlington High School boys’ basketball team picked a bad day to have an off night.

Burlington traveled to Lake Geneva Badger Dec. 22 for its last game before the holiday, and struggled in all aspects of the game, losing 53-46.

BHS is now 4-3 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Lakes Conference.

“It was just one of those games,” said BHS coach Steve Berezowitz. “Honestly, we haven’t been playing great up until this point.

“If you aren’t playing well in every aspect, you’re going to get beat.”

The Demons trailed by two points going into the halftime break, and then got outscored by Badger in the third and fourth quarters as well.

Burlington hit just one three-pointer in the contest, with Trent Taylor sinking one for his only points of the game. Eric Gerber led BHS with 14 points, while Ty Dennis had a team-best four rebounds.

Gerber and Tim Peterson, BHS’s best scorers, both fouled out of the game. Jacob Growel led all scorers with 21 points for Badger, while Ian Weber added 15.
