EUGENE F. WILLOUGHBY

Easter Lily      Eugene F. ‘Gene’ Willoughby, 85, Franksville, died March 16, 2015, at Froedtert Hospital. He was born May 26, 1929, to the late Charles and Marion (Moder) Willoughby in Ashland.

His early life was spent in Iron River where he graduated from Iron River High School. He served in the U.S. Air force in 1952.

On June 25, 1955, he married Margaret Lyons in Ashland. Following marriage they resided in Ashland, until moving to Union Grove in 1961. She preceded him in death on July 9, 1984.

While in Northern Wisconsin he worked various jobs. Following his move to Union Grove he was employed at the Meter Brothers Kraut Factory and Southern Wisconsin Center where he retired after 28 years of service.

He attended St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia, was a member of A.F.S.C.M.E Union, Local 892, American Legion Post 171 and the Union Grove Lions Club. He enjoyed socializing and was known for his ability to tell jokes and a good story. He loved collecting his treasures, deer hunting, fishing, spending time at his cabin up north and watching all-star wrestling. His musical talents include playing the ashtrays and spoons. But more than anything, in his later years, he loved driving his daughters nuts.

Survivors include his loving daughters, Sandra (Jeffery) Vyvyan, Wendy (Mark) Good, Carla (Darryl) Gimse and Rita (Greg) Michel; grandchildren, Jeremy (Liza), Andrew and Daniel Good, Corrie Ann Minor, Erin Willoughby, Jamie and Lynsie Michel; great-grandchildren, Madison, James, Alyssa and Lacey Jo; his brothers, Russel (Catherine) and Wesley (Beverly); nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He is further survived by his special friend, Virginia Kovach.

He was further preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to American Legion Post 171-Union Grove.

A memorial service is Saturday, March 21, at 1 p.m., at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home, 908 11th Ave., Union Grove, with the Rev Mark Danczyk officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on March 21, from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery in Ashland, at a later date.
