Spring Prairie man dies in early morning crash

A 25-year-old Spring Prairie man died this morning when the truck he was driving crashed into a tree on South Road in the Town of Lyons.

Earl J. Finke, the sole occupant of the 2005 Ford F250, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to the single-vehicle crash at about 2:20 a.m. Thursday on South Road about a half mile north of Highway 50. The initial investigation indicates that Finke was driving south on South Road entering the curves north of Highway 50 when he lost control of the pick-up, slid sideways off the east side of the road and struck a tree, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Finke was not wearing his seatbelt.

  1. Such a tragedy. Our deepest sympathies to his family. He was a nice young man. You raise up your children and when they get to this age you feel as if you’re kind of “home free”…..not so. So So sad.
This could have been my son, as he too had an accident on this same road about 8 years ago. It made me stop and think. I had to call and tell my son about the accident because he went to school with this young man. I reminded him about his incident on this road and how different things could have turned out.. But more importantly, I had to tell him how much I love him. God is the only one that knows why these things happen, but it doesn’t make it any easier for the families. Take the time to tell your children how much you love them.

  2. Earl will be sadly missed…And never forgotten. He’s made a huge impact on a lot of people, it’s not fair he was taken from us so soon. Obviously God had other plans for him.. I miss you Earl Finke
