Wind Lake blood drive to benefit local girls

Wind Lake Volunteer Fire Company will hold a blood drive Monday, May 4, 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the fire station, 7857 S. Loomis Road, Wind Lake.

The drive will benefit Cheyenne Counter and Emma Banach, two local girls who have Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Children with SMA have difficulty breathing and frequently experience respiratory infections. Their muscle tone is poor, their posture declines and feeding can be difficult.

Since there is no treatment for the muscle weakness, physical therapy and supportive care are critical.

To make an appointment, go online to www.bcw/windlakefire or call (262) 895-7533. Donors should bring a photo ID to their appointment.

The first 50 appointments will receive a coupon for a free ice cream at B-Lazy Diner in Tichigan.

  1. I can’t realize how crucial these blood drives are.

Even I didn’t realize how significant theses donors are until by bicycle accident and extensive injuries required me to need blood transfusions.

They were, in short, a lifesaver for me, so please give blood, as it’s relatively painless and so vital to help others in dire straights.

I’ll now become a routine donor, as I was shown what a game-changer blood is for these in need.
