Waterford ‘Bark for Life’ event is April 19

The American Cancer Society’s Bark for Life is a fundraising event to honor the life-long contributions of our best-friend pets and the non-judgmental comfort and companionship they give cancer survivors.

Waterford Union High School will host its first Bark for Life event Sunday, April 19, from noon to 3 p.m., at the high school environmental center (by the soccer field).

The 3/4-mile noncompetitive walk is a chance for people to partner with their canine friends, make new friends and help out the American Cancer Society.

The WUHS National Honor Society is organizing an afternoon of activities with many other school clubs, including pictures of people and their pets taken with fire engines and SWAT vehicles; costume contests; games for people and dogs; raffle basket auction; paw print painting; face painting; and vendor booths from local businesses.

Local rescue shelters will feature dogs from area shelters for people interested in adopting an animal.

“We are looking for pooches and their owners to participate, as well as vendors and donations for raffle baskets,” said WUHS teacher and event advisor, Nancy Smith.

To register, visit the webpage at www.relayforlife.org/barkwaterfordwi or email Smith at [email protected].

Funds raised through Bark for Life of Waterford support the American Cancer Society’s comprehensive cancer-fighting mission.
