JOYCE M. PFAFF

Easter Lily      Joyce Mae Pfaff, 96, of Mindoro, Union Grove and recently Burlington, died peacefully April 11, 2015, surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 16, 1918, on the family farm in Melrose, to the late Hugh and Lena (Stetzer) Goodenough. She spent her early life in Mindoro and graduated from Mindoro High School.

She lived and worked on the family farm until she married Robert Pfaff on Sept. 14, 1940, at Burr Oak Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 2000.

She farmed with her husband in the Mindoro area early in their marriage. She was also employed for many years as the cafeteria supervisor at St Mary’s Hospital in Racine. She had a passion for cooking and baking for her family, especially her cookies.

In retirement, Joyce and Robert thoroughly enjoyed travelling in their motor home, visiting 48 of the 50 states. Often their journeys included visits to their out-of-state children and families. Later, they enjoyed their retirement home in Plant City, Fla. She was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Ladies Guild, Harvest Club, Homemakers and various 4-H Clubs.

Survivors include her children, Bonnie (Tom) Sorenson, Mary (Jim) Paisley, Sandy (Gerry) Wilson, Judy (Bruce) Czajkowski, Robert (Suzanne) Pfaff, Cheri (Bill) Jackson; grandchildren, Mike, Todd, Tommy, and Patti (Steve’s wife) Johnson, Tammy Baumann, Tim (Melissa) Paisley, Jason (Kristen) and Ristin Wilson, Robin (Crystal) Czajkowski, Anne (Tony) Rodriguez, Karleton (Reneé) Cali, and Taylor (Christina) Pfaff, Ryan (Claire) Berndt, Cherie (Don) Meredith, Kai (Jodi) Sorenson; great-grandchildren, Margo (Brett), Megan (Patrick) and Miranda Johnson, Kurtis, Kyle and Korey Baumann, Laura and Adam Paisley, Taylor and Bailey Wilson, Amy and Amanda Czajkowski, Heather, Matt and Luke Meredith, Carly and Andy Sorenson, Tim, Kimber and Cory Gatzow; great-great-grandchildren, Kelsey Baumann and baby boy of Margo Johnson due in July; nieces; nephews; other relatives, and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her grandson, Steve Johnson; granddaughters, Teri Paisley and Lasandra Johnson; sisters, Irene Saunders, Ruth Young, Alice Goodenough and Marie Tracey; brothers Russell, Stanley and Forrest Goodenough.

She was the ‘rock’ of the family, always there to support and guide all of her loved ones. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services are Tuesday April 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Union Grove, with the Rev. David Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on April 14 at the church from 9-10:45 a.m. Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Union Grove, is serving the family.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caring, compassionate staff at Pine Brook Pointe and the staff of Seasons Hospice who became a part of Joyce’s family.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Pine Brook Pointe in Burlington.
