DONALD L. STRUEDER

Easter Lily      Donald L. Strueder, 53, Burlington, died April 12, 2015.

He was a graduate of Waterford Union High School and two years of the Agricultural Short Course at UW-Madison. He spent his life working as a shepherd to his flock of sheep in rural Waterford. He was followed everywhere by his faithful border collies, first Dottie, and then Buddy. He worked his adult life as a crop insurance adjuster, beginning with ASCS, and most recently at N.A.U Insurance.

He was a dedicated Racine County Fair supporter and an active Waterford FFA Alumni member. He sheared sheep, gathered wool, sold nuts and bolts, loved his John Wayne movies, and faithfully completed every Sudoku puzzle he came across. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his beloved partner and best friend, Julie Minikowski and her children, Michelle (fiancé Devin Chart) Minikowski, Michael Minikowski, and Cory Klunk.

He was the beloved son of Lawrence Strueder and the late Elaine Strueder. He was the dear brother of Marlene (Mike) Brunner, Green Bay, Steven (Candice) Strueder, Waterford, Carolyn Strueder, Waterford; proud uncle of Ryan, Brad, and Sean Strueder, Will and Ben Brunner, and Peter, David and Cristine Brunner. He is survived by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother, David Strueder.     Visitation is Saturday April 18, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 145 S. 6th St., Waterford, with the funeral service starting at 1 p.m. Burial will follow services in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, is serving the family.

The family wishes to thank the Burlington Rescue Squad for their kind care of Don.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials be made to “Racine County Fair – Sheep Project.”
