VIRGINIA C. VANSYCKLE

Easter Lily      Virginia C. Vansyckle, 58, Burlington, died April 18, 2015. She was born March 5, 1957.

She was the beloved wife of Richard, sister to Mike Wessels, Mark Wessels, Dawn Dutcher and daughter to Gerald and Carol Wessels.

She will be forever remembered as “Miss Wessels” and then “Mrs. Vansyckle” to the thousands of students she taught as a first grade teacher for 25 years in Waterford.

Throughout the many trials and tribulations of her life Virginia was a powerful advocate for children who stood up for them even at the cost of her job. She unashamedly lived the tenets of Christianity to the point she willingly forgave her persecutors in school administration even in the face of slander and lies.

All those who knew her will remember her love of flowers, plants and especially animals. Only Virginia had enough love in her heart to take care of the many classroom pets, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and hedgehog at home.

She will be forever loved and missed by her husband, brother, sister and the friends too numerous to name.

A remembrance service is Saturday, June 20, at Mt. Zion Church, Lake Geneva.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerry and brother, Mike.

Integrity Funeral Services, Waterford, is serving the family.

  1. I am truly sorry for your loss. I last saw Virginia at ST. Lukes in Milwaukee in early March. She was charming and humorous and very glad to be going home. I shall miss her.

I am so sadened by this news. I worked in her classroom roughly 10 years ago as a Special Education aide. She was the best teacher I had the privilege to work with. I am so glad I ran into her a few months ago and got to have a short conversation with her. She will be missed by many. My thoughts are with her family at this time. God bless.

  3. She was a wonderful teacher to my daughter Annika and will always be remembered.
