DONALD H. KLEIN

Easter Lily      Donald H. Klein, 69, Burlington, died April 12, 2015, at Burr Oak Manor in Genoa City, Ill.

He was born on May 3, 1945, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the only child of the late Anthony and Phebe Klein. He grew up in Hicksville, Long Island, N.Y., and graduated from Hicksville High School in 1963. Following high school, he attended Pennsylvania Military College in Chester, Pa., for two years as a mathematics major.

He joined the U.S. Air Force in September 1965. He married Dorothy (Young) Klein on June 18, 1966, in Philadelphia, and they spent the first several years of their marriage living overseas on Air Force assignments that included England for 15 months and the Netherlands for four years. He completed his military career in July 1973 and entered the civilian workforce.

The couple settled in Chatham, N.J., where they lived for 33 years and raised their two children. Some of the companies he worked for during his career included the Boroughs Corporation, Microdata Computers, The Ultimate Corporation and Sequoia Systems. His corporate career started as an electronic technician and eventually he moved into positions as Director of Technical Support. Later in his life, Don started a self-proprietary handyman business, which was very successful for several years before his retirement.

He was an active member of the United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. He and Dorothy traveled the world and he loved to photograph the many places they visited, especially the wildlife in the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica and South Africa. In addition to traveling, Don enjoyed music, dancing, playing with his grandchildren and learning about the latest technology.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Denise Reynolds, Grass Valley, Calif.; son, Steven (Kelly) Klein, Waterford; grandchildren, Timothy and Ryan Reynolds, Annie and Caroline Burdick and Theo Klein.

There will be a Military Honors Funeral in memory and celebration of Donald on Friday, May 22, at 11 a.m., at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Military Cemetery Chapel, 21731 Spring St., Union Grove.
