Man dies in Waterford house fire

An 88-year-old man died Thursday morning in a fire at his home in the Village of Waterford.

Other occupants of the home were able to escape the blaze. Two of them were taken by rescue personnel to St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee, for treatment of unspecified injuries, according to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of his family.

The county Communications Center received a call at 6:07 a.m. for a house fire in the 400 block of Fox Isle Park Drive. The caller told authorities there were people inside the home who could not get out, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was extinguished, but sheriff’s officials and firefighters remained on the scene through Thursday morning. The Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Racine County Fire Investigation Task Force.
