FRANK L. ZEMBAL

Easter Lily` Frank L. Zembal, 72, Prairie Grove, died June 8, 2015, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry.

He was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Chicago, to the late Frank C. and Clara (Ulanski) Zembal.

On Feb. 26, 1993, he married Katherine Freeman in Woodstock, Ill.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War.

After serving his country, he resided in Twin Lakes, where he worked in law enforcement for over 20 years. During that time he also volunteered for the Twin Lakes Fire Department as a fire inspector. In 1988, he moved to the Crystal Lake area. He then accepted a position as Chief of Police for the Village of Lakemoor, which he retired from in 1995. After retirement, Frank became a Public Safety Officer at Centegra Hospital of McHenry until 2009.

He was a devoted family man, and always put them first. He was also an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. He enjoyed shooting at the gun range, golfing, and vacationing in Florida.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Katherine; children, Frank (Renee) Zembal, Wayne (Kimberly) Zembal, David Freeman, John (Christina) McCaulley, Richard McCaulley, Dan (Magan) McCaulley; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his sister Carol (the late Ken) Embry.

He was further preceded in death by his son in 1982, Kevin, a U.S. Marine.

Funeral services were June 12, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, McHenry. Interment was in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
