RICHARD A. JOHNSON

Easter Lily      Richard A. Johnson, 85, Burlington, died June 13, 2015, at Lakeland Health Care Center, Elkhorn.

He was born in Beverly, Mass., on May 24, 1930, to the late Arthur S. and Doris (Holmes) Johnson. He spent his early life in Beverly.

During the Korean War he joined the U.S. Navy where he furthered his education as a medic.

On April 14, 1951, in Kenosha, he married Gilda Cherenni. Following marriage they made their home in Kenosha where they raised their family. Gilda preceded him in death on April 25, 1996.

He worked at Montgomery Ward in Kenosha and at the Blood Center of Wisconsin. After retiring he moved to Burlington. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and several Veteran organizations. He enjoyed traveling and volunteered for many different organizations activities. He loved socializing with his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (William) Pierce; grandchildren, Michelle Adrian, Anna Pierce and Aleks Pierce; great-grandchildren, Madison Burnette, Ava Vroman and Aleksander Pierce II; siblings, Marge (Sal) Pirrotta, Joyce Brown, Beverly (Don) Gerolamo, Shirley Luciano, Karen (Billy) McCain; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Lowell; brothers, Arthur Johnson and Donald Johnson; in-laws, Rosalie and Nicola Cherenni, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Saturday, June 20, from 10:30-11 a.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church, 449 Conkey St., Burlington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated June 20 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Yamid Blanco presiding with Military Honors to follow. Burial will be private.

Memorials received by the family will be divided amongst Richard’s favorite charities.
