Most local candidates are unopposed

Candidate filings for 2012 local elections feature plenty of races with little or no challenge to the status quo.

The election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 3.

A listing of local seats up for election follows.

 

• VILLAGE OF UNION GROVE trustee (three seats)

Incumbents Gordon Svendsen, Timothy Mallach and Michael Younglove are unopposed.

The two-year positions pay $5,100 annually.

 

• TOWN OF NORWAY supervisor (two seats)

Incumbent supervisors Ralph Schopp and Timothy Hansen are unopposed.

The two-year positions pay $6,000 annually.

 

• TOWN OF RAYMOND supervisor (two seats).

Incumbent Supervisor 3 Paul Ryan is unopposed.

Incumbent Supervisor 4 James Phillips faces challenger Bob Slivon.

The two-year positions pay $3,800 annually.

 

• UNION GROVE UNION HIGH SCHOOL (two seats)

Incumbents Paula Craven-Jasperson and Steve McClelland are unopposed.

The three-year positions pay $2,500 for board members and $3,000 for board president, positions that are determined by board vote after the election.

 

• UNION GROVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (one seat)

Incumbent Scott Cincotta is unopposed.

The term of office is three years.

Board members are paid $1,900 annually; the board president, $2,000. These board positions are determined by board vote after the election.

 

• RAYMOND SCHOOL DISTRICT (two seats)

Incumbent Steve Wallner faces challengers Charles “Russell” Eichner, Jennifer Hribar and Dawn Peterson.

Incumbent Jeff James is not seeking re-election.

The three-year positions pay $2,200 for board members and $2,300 for board clerk. Board positions are determined by board vote after the election.

 

• DOVER (KANSASVILLE) SCHOOL DISTRICT (one seat)

Incumbent Robert Kordus is unopposed. The three-year position pays $1,500 annually.

 

• YORKVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT (one seat)

Incumbent Dan Goldsworthy is unopposed.

The term of office is three years.

Board members are paid $1,600 annually; board clerk, $1,700. These board positions are determined by board vote after the election.

 

• NORTH CAPE SCHOOL DISTRICT (one seat)

Incumbent Roger Blair faces challenger JoAnn Winski.

The three-year position pays $850 annually.

 

• NORWAY-RAYMOND (DROUGHT) SCHOOL DISTRICT (two seats)

Incumbent Lindsey Drought is unopposed for board vice president. Incumbent Don Walter is unopposed for board president.

The three-year positions pay $830 annually.
