With the Waterford defense holding Badger standout Lana Wieseman to eight points less than her season average, the Wolverines’ girls’ basketball team handed Lake Geneva Badger its first Southern Lakes Conference loss of the season Friday night, 49-39.

Wieseman scored just 12 points – and none in the fourth quarter. Waterford senior Stephanie Rank, meanwhile, posted 26 points and eight rebounds – the former her season high. Alyssa Helwig added 11.

In Burlington, a 17-8 third quarter gave Union Grove some breathing room in a 51-37 victory over the Demons. The Broncos hit four 3-pointers in the third, including two from senior Jo Wilks.

Ashley Miller finished with a game-high 12 points, while Wilks and Alyssa Acker both had 11. Emily Golon led BHS with seven points.
