The nominees for this year’s Outstanding Senior award at Waterford High School are Madison Blair, Madison Lindeman, Kelly Martinson and Rebecca Weber.

All four candidates were nominated by high school staff for consideration for the award. Staff at the Waterford Post then reviewed each student’s application and made the selection.

All four nominees for this year’s honor have worked hard in high school, excelling in their coursework, donating tons of time and talent to community service and developing themselves into young adults their parents and community can be proud of.

After careful consideration by staff, the Waterford Post selects Madison Blair as the Outstanding Senior for the Class of 2015.

She is the daughter of Cari and Mike Blair, Waterford, and will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison next year, majoring in speech pathology with plans to work with children.

During her years at Waterford High School Blair has been looked up to, in more ways than one.

She has been a standout athlete in three sports while also being a high achiever in academics.

Blair has been on the “A” academic honor roll all four years of high school, and will graduate with a class ranking of three out of 268 students.

She is a three-time member of the academic team; two-year member of the National Honor Society and Student Council; one-year member of the CHASE community service club; prom committee member and 2015 homecoming queen.

In sports Blair is a four-year varsity letter winner in volleyball, basketball and soccer.

She captained her volleyball team and is a two-year captain of both the basketball and soccer teams.

During her senior year, the Waterford Wolverines girls basketball team won the Southern Lakes Conference title, as well as its regional.

Blair was Player of the Year for the Southern Lakes Conference and for Racine County, is Waterford’s all-time leading scorer, and was an All-State selection both in Division 2 and overall.

Her community volunteer activities include the high school’s annual SOAR freshman orientation; community meal service in downtown Milwaukee; Relay for Life events; and many youth basketball and volleyball camps and practices in the community.

Madison Lindeman is the daughter of Angela and Loren Lindeman, Waterford. She looks forward to attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. in the fall, with plans to major in molecular biology and one day become a pediatrician.

She will graduate as valedictorian of the Class of 2015. Lindeman is a National Merit Scholar; National Honor Society member; president and co-chair of the 2015 Relay for Life; recipient of achievement awards in history and science; named an AP Scholar with Honor, having earned scores of four or higher on four Advanced Placement exams; Badger Girls state delegate; and 2015 winner of the Racine County DAR Good Citizen Award.

Among her many activities at WHS, she has been active in the National Honor Society, peer listening, forensics, the academic team, Theatre Guild, numerous WHS plays and Student Council.

She was keynote speaker earlier this month at Washington-Caldwell School’s Junior National Honor Society induction and has been a Vacation Bible School leader, Sunday School teacher, auditorium lights technician for Fox River Church and a volunteer at the Waterford Fall Fest.

Kelly Martinson is the daughter of Scott and Sue Martinson, Muskego. She looks forward to attending University of Wisconsin-Stout in the fall, with her major yet to be decided.

Martinson will graduate as salutatorian of the Class of 2015.

She has been a Badger Girls state delegate; two-year member of the National Honor Society; and four-year member of the academic team. She has helped organize the Waterford Relay for Life through the National Honor Society and participated in the relay for three years.

She has been a member of the varsity dance team for three years, participating on teams that were three-time conference and regional champions, state runner-up, and four-time national champions.

Among her awards, Martinson has received the Southern Lakes Conference Academic Excellence Award.

Outside of school, Martinson’s interests include snowmobiling, camping, writing, reading and spending time with family.

Rebecca Weber is the daughter of Jodi and George Weber, Waterford. She looks forward to attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, majoring in music education-instrumental.

Weber has been on the “A” academic honor roll all four years of high school, and will graduate with a class ranking of six out of 268 students.

She earned multi-year academic and music letters and the Student Achievement Award from the WHS music department.

She is a two-year member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M (music) Honor Society; three-year member of the CHASE community service club; and a Spanish Club member.

She was sophomore class president and active in WHS marching, concert, symphonic and pep bands, the Madrigal dinners, “The Pajama Game” musical chorus, “Pippin” musical pit orchestra; and a member of the high school’s Principianti, Les Chanteurs and Sulla Cima vocal music groups.
