Final installment of 2014 property taxes due

Racine County Treasurer, Jane Nikolai, is reminding Racine County property owners that the second, and final, installment of 2014 property taxes is due July 31.

Per Wisconsin Statute, the Treasurer’s Office relies on US Postmark to determine if a payment is timely.

Nikolai encourages property owners to avoid missing the deadline since penalties for being late are severe. Late payments result in interest and penalty charges of 1.5 percent per month retroactive to Feb. 1.

Payments may be paid in person at the Racine County Courthouse, 730 Wisconsin Ave., or paid in person at City of Burlington, 300 N. Pine St., Burlington. For convenience, there is a 24-hour drop box located outside of the Racine County Courthouse.

Also payments may be mailed to Racine County Treasurer, 730 Wisconsin Ave., Racine, WI 53403-1274. Taxpayers may pay by electronic check or credit card by using the internet link at http://www.racineco.com/treasurer or at www.officialpayments.com. Official Payments Corporation, the credit card service provider, charges a convenience fee. The jurisdiction code for Racine County is 5835.
