CHARLES C. LORENZ JR.

Easter Lily      Charles Christopher ‘Chuck/Charlie’ Lorenz Jr., 67, Barnes, Wis., died July 21, 2015, at his home. He was born Feb. 28, 1948, in Sleepyeye, Minn., to the late Charles and Deloris (Danielowski) Lorenz Sr. He was raised in Burlington where he graduated from high school in 1967.

On Sept. 6, 1968, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. While in the service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Overseas Bars, and the Army Commendation Medal. He was honorably discharged on June 14, 1971.

He returned to Burlington where he worked at his father’s garbage business driving truck or operating heavy equipment. He became an over the road trucker which became a passion for him. He drove for several businesess before having his own truck and his own business. He enjoyed all aspects of trucking and knew his way throughout the country and the best spots to stop for a good meal.

He also enjoyed shooting trap, reloading shells, and going fishing. After retiring from trucking he moved to his property in Barnes.

Survivors include his daughter, Billie Jo (Paul) Nunn, Cleveland, Ga.; grandchildren, Bo, Nicholas, Dallas and Lorren; sister, Rebecca Wright, Waukesha, brother, Rodney (Denice) Lorenz, Whitewater; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service is Friday, July 31, at 2 p.m., at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Military Honors will be accorded by the Wisconsin Military Funeral Honors Program. Bratley Funeral Service, Hayward, is serving the family.
