Helen M. Barnard, 90, Burlington, died Aug. 1, 2015, at Geneva Lake Manor in Lake Geneva.
She was born in Burlington on June 23, 1925, to the late Henry and Dora (Rueter) Essman. She was a lifetime resident of Burlington.
On April 5, 1986, in Pewaukee, she married Paul G. Barnard, who preceded her in death on March 26, 1998.
She was a homemaker and a caretaker for children and elderly people. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She loved listening to Brewer games and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Bob (Ellen) Steinhoff, Karen (Tom) Bauman, Bill Steinhoff and Joan Steinhoff (Greg Westberg); grandchildren, Michael Bauman (Amanda Perry), Todd Steinhoff, Chris (Annette) Bauman, Jeremy Bauman (Yvonne Johnson), Kyle Steinhoff, Vanessa Steinhoff: great-grandchildren, Samantha Bauman, Jacob Steinhoff and Adrianna Steinhoff; her sister, Leona Morris; special friend and roommate, Joan Wampole; nieces and nephews.
She was further preceded in death by her brother, Joe Essman, and granddaughter, Mary Bauman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Yamid Blanco officiating. Visitation is Aug. 5, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 605 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, from 4-6:30 p.m. Burial is Thursday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials go to St. Mary’s Church.
