RAYMOND D. PURCELL

Easter Lily      Raymond D. Purcell, 80, Yorkville, died Aug. 1, 2015, at his home. He was born in Chicago on April 16, 1935, to the late Samuel and Mildred (Soubliere) Purcell. He spent his early life in Chicago where he attended school.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Belgium and Germany and loved looking at the beautiful cathedrals there.

On Oct. 6, 1956, in Chicago, he married Eleanor Honkowski. They moved to Yorkville in 1968 and Ray worked as the Power Plant Operator for Southern Wisconsin Center, retiring in 1997. He loved to garden and took special pride in his fruit trees. He enjoyed cooking and baking and also listening to music.

Survivors include his wife of almost 59 years; children, Nadine Brey, Joseph Purcell, Ken (Gaylyn) Purcell and Michelle (Jack) Stalvey; grandchildren, Lisa, Tina, Laura, Brett and Jack III; great-grandson, Cody.

He was further preceded in death by his sisters, Rita and Pat; brothers, Jerry and Lawrence; and son-in-law, Jeff Brey.

Services for Ray are Friday, Aug. 7, at 1 p.m., at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home, 908 11th Ave., Union Grove. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m., at West Lawn Memorial Park.
