Second thoughts on LSD leads to charges

A Burlington High School student who wanted to add something illegal to his post-prom party is facing a felony drug charge.

Devan Adkins, 17, was charged with possession with intent to deliver LSD after purchasing the substance from Nathan Hostetler in April.

Hostetler, who lives in Las Vegas, is facing a manufacturing/delivering LSD charge, as well as a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a child.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the Racine County Circuit Court last week, City of Burlington police were called to Burlington High School April 23. Adkins allegedly admitted to having LSD in his car and was “trying to get rid of it.”

He and friends allegedly were looking for a substance to take after prom, and pooled funds. Hostetler was the brother of a friend, and allegedly admitted to buying the drug from a supplier at a bar in Chicago.

Police tested the eight strips of paper suspected to contain the drug, and they allegedly tested positive for the presence of LSD. The delivery to Adkins allegedly occurred in close proximity to Wehmhoff Square park and Plymouth Day Care, adding a qualifier to the charges.
