Rochester briefs: Dance, fitness studio proposed for vacant building

The Rochester Plan Commission on Aug. 3 backed an applicant’s plan to operate a dance and fitness studio at an unoccupied commercial space at 203 W. Main St.

The applicant, Holly Eales, plans to operate her business under the name Live Out Loud Health and Fitness. Classes and one-on-one training sessions are part of her business plan. The facility could operate by appointment, between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The Plan Commission’s recommendation will be forwarded on to the full Village Board for further deliberation and action this coming Monday, Aug. 10.

Plans for Rochester food, liquor store continue

A new food and liquor store will soon take the place of the defunct Freddy Bears Antique Mall in Rochester. Municipal officials are in the process of reviewing a revised set of plans before the doors officially open later this year.

Applicant Jagdish Patel came before the village Plan Commission on Aug. 3 and discussed a revised set of plans, which were accepted by the panel and will advance to the full Village Board this coming Monday, Aug. 10.

The revised plans include landscaping, some of which had to be removed because of recent road construction, and the configuration of parking stalls outside the building.

Zoning Administrator Jonathan Schattner praised Patel for his responsiveness to his and other village officials’ requests in the road leading up to the grand opening of Rochester Food and Beverage.

“I think he’s been doing exactly what we’ve asked of him,” Schattner said.

Panel raises concerns over proposed subdivision

The Village of Rochester is going on record as an “objecting agency” concerning the proposed construction of Dover Ridge, a 16-lot residential development eyed on land slightly west of Sharp Road in the Town of Dover.

The Rochester Plan Commission on Aug. 3 reviewed the subdivision details and expressed concerns about the lack of a stormwater drainage plan, which officials argue could impact Rochester.

The village’s objections are being forwarded on to officials in Racine County.
